What is an RSS feed?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It refers to files easily read by a computer called XML files that automatically update information. This information is fetched by a user's RSS feed reader that converts the files into the latest updates from websites in an easy to read format.

Websites usually use RSS feeds to publish frequently updated information, such as blog entries, news headlines, or episodes of audio and video series. 

Here are some easy steps to add a RSS feed into your blog site.

Step-1

Open Google Feed Burner

- Open Google Feed Burner (feedburner.google.com)

- You need a google account (e.g. gmail) to sign up with feedburner
- Once you signed in, "My Feeds" page appears
- Paste your blog home page url in the box, right under the heading 
   "Burn a feed right this instant"

- Click  Next .

Step-2

Identify Feed Source Page

- Page appear: "Identify Feed Source"
- Check your current pasted link is selected, if so then click  Next .

Step-3

Replace or Edit Feed Title

- Page appear: "Welcome! Let us burn a feed for you".
- For header "Feed Title", here you can change/replace title.
- Feed Address assigned automatically.
- Click  Next .

Step-4

FeedBurner is now live

- Page appear: "Congrats! Your Feedburner feed is now live. Want to dress it up a little?"
- Click  Next .

Step-5

Feed Traffic Statistics Page

- Page appear: "Get More Gusto From Your Feed Traffic Statistics"
- Click  Next .

Step-6

Main Feed Management Screen

- Page appear, click the first icon, which is RSS icon

Step-7

RSS Feed Page

- As you click on RSS icon, a page appears, it is RSS Feed Page.
- From address bar, select and copy URL of RSS Feed Page.

Step-8

Post Feed URL in Blogger

- Open Blogger
- Choose > Settings > Other 
- Under tag "Site Feed", paste your url for header "Post Feed Redirect URL"

- Click   Save Settings .

Step-9

Add a FEED gadget in blog

- In blogger, choose "Layout"
- Choose "+ Add a gadget"

- From gadgets list, choose "FEED"

- Paste your Feed URL
- Click  Continue .

- In the next page do the following:
, + For "Visible", click the checkbox to enable the "Show Feed"
  + For "Title", you can change or edit the title.
  + For "Show", you can enable the item dates, if you do so, respective date will be 
     displayed with each post, you can also display the sources/authors name with posts.
